CITY OF BENTON

SEPTEMBER 21, 2009

The governing body of the City of Benton, Kansas met in regular session at the usual meeting place in the City at 7:05 p.m.  Council Member Kathy Gomez presided and members of the governing body were present as follows:  John Gahagan, James Thompson and Scott Hartley.  Dan Carpenter and Mayor Ken Gile were absent. 

APPROVE MINUTES
Jim moved to approve the minutes from the August 10 Budget Hearing and the regular council meeting on August 17, 2009.  John seconded.  Motion carried 4-0.

SIDEWALK BIDS
Jim moved to accept the bid by Cornejo & Sons for the west sidewalk on the west side of Main Street at $52,387.00.  John seconded.  Motion carried 4-0.

TRANSFER SWITCH
Jim moved to accept the bid by Mi-Te Electric for $1992.00 to install a transfer switch to operate a generator to run City Building in the event of a power outage.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS
Dale     Discussed putting in a fishing dock at Poling Pond.  Grants will be available for   2011.

James   Update on cases for last month.  Presented sample ordinances for golf cart/utility vehicles on city streets. 

APPROVE BILLS
Jim moved to approve the bills as presented.  Scott seconded.  Motion carried 4-0.
